Best souvenir

I love to travel for the simple reason that I am lucky to have the opportunity to experience different cultures, see distinct places of interest and bring home souvenirs of these experiences. This time I combined my short vacation with a visit to my sister who lives in Jakarta.

This time, however, I bring home a heartwarming souvenir from Jakarta, well-molded in trust, respect and honesty.

One of the more frequented tourist shopping places in the city is Plaza Indonesia. My sister, niece and I trooped there the other day to do some shopping when I realized later on that my wallet containing quite a lot of money for a day's shopping, both rupiah and Dutch Guilders, had fallen out as we left the car.

An hour and a half passed before we returned to trace back our tracks and lo and behold, when the doorman and the security person on duty were asked about a missing wallet they immediately acknowledged that it was indeed found and was kept in safekeeping at the Plaza Indonesia Office. The staff probed us with basic questions regarding the contents of the wallet and to our joy, and beyond our expectations, everything was intact. We offered to give a reward but even this was refused many times.

It is through this letter that I wish to extend my sincerest gratitude to the Plaza Indonesia people who were on hand to assist us in our time of distress. And to the management of Plaza Indonesia, our congratulations for hiring the right people who we will always remember as the "best" souvenirs we can bring home.
