Berserk bull gores master to death

PADANG, West Sumatra: A large bull went berserk while it was being bathed by its master, whom it attacked and killed on Monday.

Tasar, 67, a resident of Sungai Sapih subdistrict in Padang municipality died of severe blood loss resulting from deep wounds to his abdomen, neck and legs, despite the best efforts of his neighbors who rushed him to the nearest hospital as soon as the bull had been restrained.

Kuranji police subprecinct chief Second Insp. Ferri Efendi said the case was purely one of misadventure.

Witnesses said Tasar had tried to calm the bull, which he always used to pull his cart, but the beast kept on attacking him. He was gored by the animal several times in full view of his neighbors, who were unable to stop the attack.

The neighbors later managed to calm the raging bull by offering it food, but Tasar was already mortally wounded.

He died later on his way to the Sungai Sapih Hospital. -- Antara
