Belo to deliver lectures abroad
DILI, East Timor: Winner of the 1996 Nobel Peace Prize, Dili Bishop Carlos Filipe Ximenes Belo, has been invited by Czech Republic President Vaclav Havel to speak at an international seminar in Prague.
Belo confirmed the invitation and said he will give a speech on humanism in the 21st century during the seminar to be held from Sept. 3 to Sept. 7.
He said the seminar would discuss ethics, ideology and religion, Antara reported yesterday.
"Well-known philosophers, academicians, statesmen and religious leaders will attend the Prague seminar," he said.
After the visit to Prague, Belo will go to Brazil to attend another seminar from Sept. 14 to Sept. 17, which will discuss the issue of human rights and their universal values. (swe)
