Belief in God

From Forum Keadilan

I would like to observe Article 29, paragraph 2 of the 1945 Constitution. The formal interpretation of "Belief in God Almighty" has been a public topic for about twenty years. Its legitimacy seems to lie in the words "in God Almighty".

The above article says: "The State guarantees the freedom of each citizen to embrace their respective creeds" (the main sentence) "and to worship God according to their religion and belief" (a clause).

So, the word belief serves only as an explanation and emphasis to religion. Every citizen believes in their religion of their choice. Even in one religion, like Islam, there can be several religious sects.

As religious followers we are convinced that what is referred to as a belief is a actually a remnant of animism.
