Bekasi to get new prison

BEKASI: The regental administration has provided seven hectares of land in Cikarang district to build a new penitentiary.

"The new facility will provide greater comfort for the inmates," Regent Saleh Manaf said on Wednesday.

According to Bekasi Penitentiary warden Haviluddin, the prison currently accommodate 1,211 inmates, almost four times its maximum capacity of 350.

Haviluddin said the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights will shoulder the cost of the construction of the new facility. --Antara
