Bekasi to build two toll gates

JAKARTA (JP): Bekasi city administration will soon build two new toll gates to relieve the constant traffic jams occurring at its Bekasi Timur and Bekasi Barat gates.

"We hope that implementation of the new gates will ease traffic jams at the Bekasi Barat and Bekasi Timur gates," Chief of Bekasi's development planning agency, Toto Soebekty, said last week.

He said that state-owned toll operator Jasa Marga would finance construction of the two toll gates.

Jasa Marga's Cikampek chief of toll Tito J told Warta Kota last week that his company was still studying the plan.

"So we're not sure yet about the total investment needed for the development. But what's certain is that the new toll gates will be near the Islamic Empat Lima University in East Bekasi and near Goro Pekayon in South Bekasi.

Toto said that, in an effort to ease the traffic jams in Bekasi, his administration will also widen several roads, including the toll crossing bridge in Pekayon.
