Bekasi ponders new bus terminal

BEKASI (JP): The local administration is considering building another bus terminal because the existing one can no longer accommodate the increasing number of buses.

"We are studying all relevant aspects," Mayor Nonon Sonthanie said here Tuesday.

The planned terminal would be smaller than the existing one, Nonon said as reported by Antara.

The existing, overcrowded terminal has become a headache to the administration because many buses plying different routes have to take the same roads. It not only causes widespread traffic snarls, but also causes tension among drivers who have to compete for passengers, the report said.

The local Development Planning Board has been asked to conduct a feasibility study, Nonon said.
