Bekasi police office robbed

BEKASI: A police office in Bekasi was robbed on Wednesday evening when there was no one around, resulting in the loss of several documents and Rp 7 million (US$823) in cash from a safe.

The Sri Hadi Makmur building, which also serves as the office of the police's public services, is located on Jl. Jatiluhur Raya, Jakasampurna in Bekasi.

A police investigator said the culprit broke in to the office through the front door and took away an ownership document of a motorcycle, a land certificate and all the money kept in a safe. However, he did not say how the robber was able to break into the safe.

The police are now looking for witnesses. --Antara
