Bekasi is against school levies

BEKASI: Head of the Bekasi Education Agency Asmari, asserted that his office would take stern measures against headmasters who imposed levies for school development on parents.

"If it happens, I encourage parents to report it to us," he was quoted as saying by Antara on Monday, the first day of school after the holiday.

He added that his office had yet to receive any reports of illegal fees in schools.

However, Syafrudin of City Council Commission E for welfare, said that many parents had reported to the commission that such levies had been imposed. --JP
