BBJ to screen classic musicals

JAKARTA: Classic musicals, such as My Fair Lady, West Side Story and A Chorus Line will be screened from Nov. 19 to Nov. 21 at the Bentara Budaya Jakarta (BBJ), on Jl. Palmerah Selatan, Central Jakarta.

The screenings are free and open to the public. There will be two shows each day, starting at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m respectively.

My Fair Lady was awarded several Oscars in 1964, and including those for best film and actor. Meanwhile, West Side Story, a Manhattan version of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, is one of director Jerome Robbins's best and won several Academy Award nominations in 1961. A Chorus Line, starring Michael Douglas and produced in 1985, tells the tale of a love story behind the stage. --JP
