Bekasi police dismiss outlaw

BEKASI: Bekasi Police chief Sr. Comr. Bachtiar Hasanudin
Tambunan dismissed on Monday one of his personnel, who was
reportedly involved in a crime.

The person, whose last rank was that of second brigadier, was
a member of Sukatani subprecinct police.

"We are law enforcers, so we cannot abuse the law ... In fact,
it is we who should be the role model to residents," Tambunan
said in a ceremony, declining to detail the crime the person was
involved in.

A police source said the crime was committed in 1999, but it
had been disclosed only recently. -- JP
