Baywatch show

This is in response to the letter of Sri Kurniawati of Bogor published in The Jakarta Post on March 28, regarding the Baywatch television series on RCTI.

Sri Kurniawati said that the show has offended and humiliated her as a woman because the show contains scenes showing women in swimwear. I am not particularly a fan of the show, but at least I try not to judge anything just by my own standards or values.

Sri, you may want to see the show in the right context, i.e. that Baywatch is a TV series about the daily life of a serious profession, life-guards on the beach. What do you expect them to wear on the job? Do you think they should wear a full-dress while saving lives at sea?

If you feel offended by the show then it's your right not to watch it, but you have no right to tell anyone else that the show offends and humiliates everybody or every woman in the audience.

Personally, I don't feel humiliated when they show men wearing only swimwear. But, it is just my opinion and I have no right to say my opinion counts for all other men.
