Batam workers still confuse

BATAM, Riau: Thousands of workers in Batam said they were still confused regarding which party to choose from the many that are contesting the June 7 poll.

Antara quoted workers as saying Sunday that they had never heard of party programs but hoped that any party would strive to improve their working conditions. Many workers hail from Sumatra and Java.

From an estimated 270,000 eligible voters here, 197,619 have registered.

"There are so many party logos and some of them are so alike to one another," Rohidah, a worker at the Batamindo site of electronic plants, said. (anr)
