Basketball, rock concert at Istora

JAKARTA (JP): Basketball fans are invited to watch a tournament featuring 15 players currently preparing for the 20th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games and rock music groups on June 27 at 4 p.m. at Senayan indoor stadium (Istora) here.

Andi Afandi, head of the organizing committee, said on Friday SEA Games players would face league players from top clubs Aspac and Panasia Indosyntec in the one-day tournament called 'A Mild One Day Championship'. Both teams would play in a 'five on five' system in two x 10 minute games, with only one substitute allowed, he said.

Total prize money of Rp 10 million would be provided, Andi said. The winner would receive Rp 3.6 million, runner-ups Rp 2.8 million, Rp 2.2 million and Rp 1.4 million.

Alternative rock music groups popular among teenagers -- /rif, Powerslaves, Galery and Netral -- had agreed to perform at the tournament organized by Citra Satria Bola Basket, Deteksi Production, the Jakarta chapter of the Indonesian Basketball Association (Perbasi Jaya) and Sampoerna cigarette producers, he said.

Andi said first-class tickets would be sold at Rp 10,000 and VIP class ones would sell for Rp 25,000.(ivy)
