Artistic and cultural moments

As the year draws to a close, the time has come to remember the year as it was, with both bright and dark moments.

The arts scene this year was enjoyable as ever, with many performances and exhibitions, both local and international. However, this year's performing arts schedule ended on a sour note with the cancellation of Ratna Sarumpaet's Alia, Luka Serambi Mekah) (Alia, Wound on Veranda of Mecca), scheduled to be screened on state television station TVRI, without explanation, just as in the old days.

In the entertainment world, the Bali bombings meant several concerts by foreign artists were canceled, although the television industry and local films enjoyed bright moments this year with, respectively, the presence of more television stations and more local movies being released.

Here are a few images of major events that occurred in the arts and entertainment world this year.
