Bank Mandiri vehicle stolen

JAKARTA (JP): Five men broke into a house on Jl. Muara in Tanjung Barat subdistrict, Jagakarsa district, South Jakarta, belonging to an employee of state-owned Bank Mandiri, stealing a Kijang van belonging to the bank.

The victim, Endang Supriyadi, who is a driver at the bank's headquarters, told police the robbers entered the house through a window at 3 a.m. on Monday.

Armed with sickles, the robbers took the key to the vehicle but were unable to start the van, Antara reported.

The men then woke up the 36-year-old Endang and his wife Nurhayati, and ordered him to start the van.

After starting the vehicle, Endang and his wife were tied up by the robbers before they fled with the van. The victims eventually freed themselves and called the police. (jun)
