Bank director arrested for graft

BOGOR: A bank director in Bogor regency was detained by the police for allegedly embezzling Rp 143 million.

The suspect was identified as Benny Efendi, 33, the operational director of Artha Kurnia Bank.

He is alleged to have carried out the crimes between September 2002 and January of this year, Cisarua Police chief Adj.Com. Ahmad Ridwan said on Friday.

Benny told the police that he embezzled the money to pay off his debts.--JP
