Bank Bali's instant cards

JAKARTA (JP): Publicly listed Bank Bali now has machines which can produce plastic Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) and debit cards in less than five minutes.

The new service, introduced here yesterday, was set up by the bank in cooperation with PT Bauma Smarti Teknika, the sole distributor for DataCard Co. of the United States.

Bank Bali's president, Rudy Ramli, said the bank used DataCard's IC II Plus equipment to give customers ATM/debit cards with a new photo.

He said that Bank Bali, which has about 300 branches, had bought 180 DataCard devices. "All of our branches will be able to prepare the instant cards by the end of 1997."

Bank Bali had about 800,000 savings account holders, Rudy said. (icn)
