Banjarmasin fire causes big loss

BANJARMASIN: Fire broke out Monday night at the Pangeran Antasari market, burning 914 stalls.

Mayor Sadjoko estimated losses in billions of rupiah.

Antara reported that the worst hit part of the fire that lasted four hours was the ground floor where merchandise was mostly basic needs.

The mayor said temporary kiosks for affected traders would be immediately built. The municipality market was built in 1982 and cost Rp 5 billion.
