Bambang corrects BPK figures
JAKARTA (JP): Minister of Finance Bambang Sudibyo clarified the correct figure involved in the irregularities found in the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK)'s audit of the state budget and state companies for the 1999/2000 fiscal year that ended in March.
Bambang said a number of media publications, including The Jakarta Post, misquoted the report by printing that the irregularities totaled Rp 209.43 trillion (US$23.27 billion), instead of the correct figure of Rp 209.43 billion.
He said the media that printed the incorrect figure should take greater care in ensuring the accuracy of their stories or risk being sued by his office. (cst)
