Bali to host surfing tourney

JAKARTA (JP): Sixteen countries are scheduled to take part in the International Surfing Championship at Kuta Beach, Bali, from April 9 to April 13.

Wayan Yasa, the Bali Surfing Association's chairman, said that surfers from Japan, Australia, USA, New Zealand, Brazil, France, South Africa, Peru, Tahiti, Puerto Rico, Guam, Hawaii and Indonesia would tough the waves in the country's first international surfing championship.

Antara reported that local surfers would have to qualify for the event at a selection competition in Bali. (yan)
