Bali life-savers to be trained in Oz
The Australian Consulate General in Bali held a send-off party
for members of Badung Regency Life Saving Team who went to
Western Australia on Feb.15.
Nine members of Badung Life Saver Team have entered an
intensive training program at Cottesloe Surf Life Saving Club.
The purpose of this training is to help prepare an Indonesian
team to compete at the World Championships to be held in
Victoria, Australia, in February 2006.
This program will fulfill two important functions. It will
offer the Bali team a unique opportunity to work with Australian
lifesavers -- to share their experiences and work toward
improving their skills as professional lifeguards -- and then
return to Bali and share that experience with their colleagues.
It will also be a cultural experience -- an opportunity to
learn more about Australia and the Australian way of life, while
teaching Australians more about Balinese culture, and making new
friends. -- JP)
