Bali-Jakarta yacht race begins Saturday
JAKARTA (JP): Twelve nations are scheduled to participate in this year's six-day, 600-kilometer (324 nautical miles) Bali to Jakarta yacht race. It starts from Benoa, in south Bali, Saturday and finishes at Peniki, one of the Seribu Islands in Jakarta.
Australia, the United States, New Zealand, Canada, Cyprus, England, Switzerland, Finland, France, Germany and the Netherlands are foreign countries represented.
Indonesia's Arung Samudera II, skippered by Capt. Suryono, will also participate in the race, chairman of the organizing committee Commodore Yoewarsono said yesterday.
He also said that the Navy will provide warships, helicopters and medical teams for search and rescue purposes. (yan)
