Bali is Bali
Referring to the letter Nice boys, a thing of the past (May 2, 1997) I would like to give some comments.
It was a pity that Mrs. Margaret Gaspers had to experience such a rude treatment from a vendor in Kuta, Bali. There are a lot of tourists who agree with her.
But there are still a lot of alternatives on the island where you still feel that Bali is Bali. For example, in Candidasa you will find a peaceful area, no vendors on the street or on the beach. Transport might be offered to you in a nice polite way. The area is not commercialized and the people are nice. There is a variety of hotels and restaurants ranging from small traditional establishments up to more elite types.
So perhaps Mrs. Gaspers and all the others who still love Bali might want to try coming to Bali again. There are still a lot of places to stay in the less-spoiled parts of Bali, besides the known but a bit too commercialized places.
