Bali governor off to Washington
DENPASAR, Bali: Bali Governor Ida Bagus Oka has been invited by the World Bank to attend a discussion on urban development in Washington from May 18 to May 21.
"This is a good opportunity for us to participate in an international event especially since Bali has been considered successful in carrying out the World Bank-funded Bali Urban Infrastructure Project," the governor was quoted by Antara as saying yesterday.
He said the World Bank had offered him the opportunity to talk about the project with representatives of several developing nations who will also join the discussion.
President Soeharto has consented to Ida's participation in the discussion.
"I will be home on May 23 prior to the arrival of Princess Chulabhapra, the youngest daughter of the Thai monarch, who will be vacationing in Bali," the governor added.
The Thai princess will be here for one week.
