Bali activist gets professor of peace

DENPASAR, Bali: A social activist from this tourism haven was
recently inaugurated as a world peace professor by the Instituto
Superiore Accademico in Palermo, Italy.

I Wayan Mertha Sutedja was inducted at the Royal Agriculture
College in London on Sept. 24, Antara reported Saturday.

The Italian institute awarded the academic title for Sutedja's
contribution to world peace as expressed in his book Falsafah
Hidup Damai dan Harmonis dari Umat Hindu Bali (The Balinese Hindu
Philosophy of Living in Peace and Harmony).

"I received the same title from a university in America in
1993," Wayan, who chairs the social Kerta Wisata Foundation, was
quoted by Antara as saying Saturday. (ste)
