Bakrie units receive ISOs

JAKARTA (JP): Two affiliates of publicly-listed PT Bakrie &
Brothers, PT Bakrie Building Industries (BBI) and PT Bakrie
Corrugated Metal Industry (BCMI) received ISO 9002 certificates
on Monday from Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance.

Bakrie & Brothers said in a statement that the certificates
were handed over by Lloyd's Country Manager John Catchpole to
representatives of the two companies at the Bakrie Industrial
Estate here.

BBI produces building materials such as cement fiber with a
production capacity of 100,000 tons a year and Arco panels with a
production capacity of 60,000 tons a year

BCMI is a corrugated iron manufacturer with a production
capacity of 14,000 tons a year, and galvanizing with 12,000 tons
a year.

"In 1999 BCMI produced 2,338 tons of corrugated iron, up from
1,370 tons in 1998, and we are confident this year we will
produce up to 3,000 tons," A.D. Erlangga, the CEO of both
companies, said.

He said that with the certificate it would be easier for the
two companies to sell their products in international markets.
