Bakrie to raise film output

JAKARTA (JP): PT Bakrie Diafoil, a joint venture between the Bakrie Group of Indonesia and Diafoil Hoechst Co. Ltd. of Japan, will expand its polyester film capacity by 20,000 tons per annum.

Diafoil Hoechst said in a statement on Wednesday that Bakrie Diafoil will start building its second polyester film line in the second half of this year.

The statement said Diafoil Hoechst's shareholders, Hoechst AG and Mitsubishi Chemical Co., plan to spend over US$300 million worldwide, including in Indonesia, to increase its polyester film capacity by more than 80,000 tons. (rid)
