Bakrie to build CPO plan

JAKARTA (JP): PT Agrowiyana, a subsidiary of the Bakrie Group, plans to build a crude palm oil (CPO) processing plant in Tanjung Jabung in Jambi.

Agrowiyana executive Nano Priatno was quoted by Antara in Jambi on Saturday as saying construction would start early next year.

The plant will produce CPO from oil palm grown on the company's plantations in the area, he said.

It will have the capacity to process 60 tons of fresh fruit clusters into CPO per hour, but it will initially process 30 tons of the fresh fruit cluster an hour.

Agrowiyana owns 2,400 hectares of oil palm plantations and manages 13,000 hectares in cooperation with local farmers. Jambi is the country's largest producer of CPO. (das)
