'Bajaj' drivers rally for fellows

JAKARTA (JP): Some 100 bajaj (three-wheeled taxi) drivers staged a rally at the Central Jakarta Police office early on Monday morning demanding the police release several bajajs belonging to their fellows drivers.

An officer of the police office's public service unit (Yanmas) said the arrival of the drivers surprised several officers who were in charge that morning.

The officer said that the protesting bajaj drivers carried a large banner, that read "Please, release our friends' bajajs."

The rally lasted for about one hour. Before dispersing they vowed to return with more people to demand the release of the vehicles. (01)
