Badminton debate for 2000 Olympics
JAKARTA (JP): The monthly Raket magazine is staging a
badminton discussion on "Preparing for the 2000 Olympics" at the
Kompas building in Jl. Palmerah Selatan, Central Jakarta.
Justian Suhandinata, vice president of the International
Badminton Federation, former eight-time All England winner Rudi
Hartono, sociologist and badminton observer Fritz E Simanjuntak
and journalist Valens Doy will speak at the discussion, which
will be attended by 100 participants.
Indonesia only managed one gold, one silver and two bronze
medals at this year's Olympic Games in Atlanta. In 1992, the
country's shuttlers won two golds, two silvers and one bronze.
The discussion is expected to give input to the Badminton
Association of Indonesia as it prepares its younger shuttlers for
the next Olympics. (yan)
