Baby food coupons suggested for JPS
BOGOR (JP): The rector of the Bogor Agriculture Institute, Aman Wirakartakusumah, suggested on Tuesday that a coupon system be implemented to distribute food to infants of low income families.
Aman was referring to a food aid project organized by the Social Safety Net Program (JPS).
"In many developed countries, coupons were distributed to poor infants. The coupons could later be exchanged for food," he said.
He said at least 50 percent of 23 million children in the country suffer from malnutrition.
"Cooperatives and Community Health Centers could help manage the coupon system so that the aid would reach the needy infants," Aman said. (24/edt)
