Baby boy found dead

JAKARTA: A newborn baby boy was found dead on Sunday morning in front of the home of Suranto, a resident of the Army's Yon Sikon housing complex in Lenteng Agung, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta.

The baby's body was found wrapped in a yellow T-shirt and a yellow plastic wrapper. Traces of the placenta were also visible on the body.

The body had been placed on the doorstep of the house.

It was discovered by Suranto's wife, Suparti.

Police think that the person responsible for abandoning the baby's corpse had jumped over the fence given that the gate was still locked at the time the body was found.

"We then took the body to the Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital morgue," said an officer from the Jagakarsa police subprecinct. --JP.
