A teenager hit by a stray police bullet: Elsye Sonia Megatadu, 18, was shot in the upper leg while awaiting a bus home from her school in Permai, Koja, North Jakarta, on Thursday. She is now being treated at Koja Hospital. The bullet was fired by a traffic police officer, First Insp. Envile Coty, when he was in hot pursuit of Yusron, 30, who had just hit a pedestrian in his vehicle and was later found to be in possession of a quarter gram of putaw (low grade heroin). The officer fired six bullets, the fifth of which richoceted of the ground and hit Elsye. The police have said they will cover all Elsye's medical costs.
