JAKARTA: Local budget airline Awair, a subsidiary of Southeast Asia carrier AirAsia, will open new routes from Jakarta to Kuala Lumpur, Surabaya and Batam this month.

Awair will fly to Kuala Lumpur, its first international destination, from Jakarta and back once a day, the company said in a statement on Friday. There will be two return flights to Surabaya and Batam daily.

The airline is offering limited seats for one-way trips at the promotional price of Rp 170,000 (US$16.50) to Kuala Lumpur up to mid-September.
