Austrian robbed of Rp 60 million

INDONESIA: A 45-year-old Austrian, Rudolf Lytner, was robbed by a gang of eight thieves at his house in Bogor, West Java, early on Saturday.

The victim, who works at German-based PT Siemens distribution company, valued his losses at Rp 60 million (US$7,229).

Local Police chief Adj. Comr. Sartono said that the burglary took place at around 3 a.m. by eight men who jumped over the fence and tied up two security guards at the security post.

Five of the burglars then entered the house through a window and bound and gagged the two housemaids. Then they entered Lytner's bedroom and tied he and his wife up. The burglars then locked their victims in the room as they looted the house of many valuables.

Sartono said that police were currently investigating the case. -- JP
