Australia donates braille books
BANDUNG, West Java: The Australian government donated 2,400 braille books on Wednesday for distribution to special schools for the blind across the country.
The donation was handed over to school representatives during a ceremony held on Wednesday at the Wyata Guna Residence, which houses blind people in Bandung. The ceremony was attended by executives from four schools for the blind across the country.
Sri Sudarsono, who chairs the Wyata Guna Foundation, said it was the first time that blind students had been given aid in the form of braille books containing English lessons. Indonesia has some 250 schools for blind people, ranging from elementary to senior high schools. -- JP
