Aussie aids RI dairy farmers

JAKARTA (JP): More than 20 Indonesian dairy farmers began an Australian sponsored training program on Monday to improve their managerial skills aimed at raising Indonesia's milk production.

The four-day program is jointly organized by the government of Victoria and the Ministry of Agriculture, the Victorian Government Business Office in Jakarta said in a statement.

Participants include members of Village Cooperative Units (KUD) and the Federation of Indonesian Milk Cooperatives (GKSI).

Victoria also launched the second phase of a horticulture quality assurance training program aimed at furthering understanding of key issues in the production of quality horticulture produce.

The first phase was conducted from March 20 through March 24, and the second phase will last until Friday.

Principles of quality assurance will be introduced to promote better quality produce and reduce crop and post harvest losses. (10)
