Attempts at fraud via proXL

Recently there has been a frequent occurrence of attempted fraud under the guise of raffle or giveaway promotions that misuse the names of Excelcom or proXL or its associates, in conjunction with other parties, such as banks or telecommunications companies.

The modus operandi is to inform the victim by SMS or fixed phone that he has won something in an Excelcom or proXL promotion. The names of the promotions can be varied, among others, "Golden Voucher".

The victim is then requested to transfer a certain amount of money to a bank account as a raffle tax payment or to purchase a prepaid cellular voucher and reveal its confidential 14 digit number to the deceiver.

The newest modus operandi is to ask the victim to complete the internet registration at a bank automatic teller machine (ATM) and reveal the relevant password number.

Referring to the above, we hereby clarify that Excelcom/proXL has never run such raffles or giveaway promotions. The only quiz program with giveaways that we are involved in is Jutawan proXL (proXL Millionaire) and we do not ask winners to transfer any money, purchase prepaid vouchers or make internet registrations.

We always communicate with the public well in advance through the mass media whenever we plan to launch any promotional programs.

Therefore we appeal to the public in general and to proXL card users in particular to be cautious about such fraud.

Should anyone receive an SMS message or a telephone call regarding a raffle or giveaway promotion that uses the name of Excelcom or proXL, please check, before doing anything else, with proXL customer service on 021-057959813, or 818 from a cellular phone that uses a proXL card.
