ATF vice chairman Katimansah resigns

JAKARTA (JP): The Asian Tennis Federation (ATF) vice chairman, Eddy Katimansah of Indonesia, resigned from the federation due to the rupiah collapse in the country.

"I sent a resignation letter to the federation's chairman, Eiichi Kawatei, on February 12," Eddy said Tuesday, reported Antara. Eddy said he had to pay for airplane tickets personally every time he had to attend the federation's meet.

"Last November, I had to pay US$700 for airplane tickets to attend the federation's meet in Bangkok," he said.

Eddy said his resignation would not affect the Indonesian Tennis Association's cooperation with the federation because the association could contact the International Tennis Federation direct. (yan)
