Astra gives scholarship
JAKARTA (JP): PT Astra International announced yesterday it had provided Rp 48 million (US$20,000) worth of scholarships to students at Aceh's Syah Kuala University.
Astra said in a statement the scholarships were part of the company's commitment to providing Rp 500 million in scholarships to the students of 10 universities across Indonesia.
The scholarships were presented to the Syah Kuala students yesterday in a ceremony attended by Astra vice president commissioner Abdul Rachman Ramly, and Syah Kuala rector Prof. Dayan Dawood.
Also yesterday Astra contributed Rp 40 million to the national foster parent program. The contribution was accepted by the program's executive chairman, Halimah Bambang Trihatmodjo, President Soeharto's daughter-in-law. (pwn)
