Astra CMG debuts health plan

JAKARTA (JP): PT Astra CMG Life insurance company launched on Monday the Danatra Citra Plus, a health insurance scheme that offers protection against various critical illnesses and also serves as an old-age saving plan.

Company director Suparno Djasmin said the scheme, offered to people aged between 16 and 50 years old, would provide insurance for clients until they reached 60 years, an age when most people are worried about their health and are likely to suffer from critical illnesses.

"Our market research indicates a growing need for an insurance scheme that covers critical illnesses such as heart attack, cancers, transplantation of vital organs, the liver, burns, stroke and paralysis," the company's president Steve Heald said.

PT Astra CMG Life reported a 50 percent increase in premium income in the first 10 months of the year and an 80 percent rise in new policy holders.

Heald said the scheme was expected to contribute 30 percent of the company's total sales growth in the next three years.

As the country recovers from the economic crisis, Astra CMG is targeting a 10 percent increase in policy holders over the next five years. (06)
