Aspiring actress cries foul

JAKARTA: A 39-year-old man was reported the police on Sunday by Anita Mulyani, 21, who accused him of posing as a director and falsely promising to give her a role in his television soap opera.

The woman told police that Yayan Suryana, the alleged bogus director, swindled her out of Rp 4.5 million (about US$553.50).

Anita said Yayan introduced himself as a film and television director and assured her that she could have a role in his current project if she paid an administration fee of Rp 4.5 million at Pink Production House at Jl. Raya Caman in Bekasi, West Java.

She made the payment in early May but Yayan continued to delay the soap opera shoot, citing bad weather as the reason.

Mulyani eventually demanded that Yayan return her money. However, the suspect fled his house.

Police said they would investigate the case.--Antara
