Asian trade promoted

JAKARTA (JP): The German Investment and Development Company, in cooperation with Bank Pembangunan Indonesia (Bapindo), is promoting measures to boost trade among Asian countries during a five-day manufacturing exhibition in Jakarta, starting tomorrow.

The German company said on Saturday the company and Bapindo arranged the promotional measures under their joint program, Integrated Advisory Service, for the promotion of the private sector in Indonesia.

They said the program's manager has invited 29 small and medium companies from Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, India, Pakistan and Nepal to join the exhibition.

India will send seven companies, Indonesian and Pakistan five each, Thailand and the Philippines four each, Malaysia three and Nepal one.

The manager will also organize seminars on Dec. 1 to familiarize private businessmen with the services offered by German government institutions, they stated.

Meanwhile, the British embassy announced on Friday that 21 British companies will also take part in the exhibition, which is expected to attract 1,500 participating companies and 30,000 visitors.

Minister of Industry Tunky Ariwibowo is slated to open the exhibition. (riz)
