Asian style toilets
This is in response to John Sylvester's letter in the Aug. 22, 1995 issue of The Jakarta Post, asking for Western toilets in national Parks.
We are two Australian tourists who disagree with his comments. We have been disappointed by the lack of Asian-style toilets so far encountered in our travels.
We feel that Asian toilets, by far, are cleaner and more practical than Western toilets, and, as visitors to your culture, we do not think that Western tastes should interfere with tradition.
Instead we hope to take the practical Asian toilet back home to Australia, and build them in our houses.
By definition traveling demands tolerance and acceptance of new and different practices.
