Asian-African Business Summit

On April 21 and April 22 the Asian-African Business Summit was held at Hotel Mulia, Jakarta.

The business summit hosted by the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) will definitely yield encouraging responses and the chairman of Kadin should be congratulated on this.

While enjoying the absorbing speeches of the many heads of state during the summit, the arrangements at Hotel Mulia, made the two-day summit very interesting.

We were a team of eight delegates from the Economic Association of Indonesia and India (ECAII), who attended all sessions of the business summit. All the sessions were well attended and there was all-round appreciation of the speeches.

While at the dinner session on April 21, at short notice, decent vegetarian cuisine was provided for eight of us (all of whom are vegetarians). Reciprocating this courtesy one of our delegates handed his business card to the waiter -- Pak Muis, who was coordinating our vegetarian meal.

Next day, April 22, lunch was served for all delegates -- a Continental Buffet lunch. As we were helping ourselves to salad the same person Pak Muis identified the member in our team (who had handed him his business card) and profusely invited us to a special table where elaborate vegetarian cuisine was served. We were very grateful to Pak Muis for his coordination with Hotel Mulia's management.
