Artwork auctioned for PAN
JAKARTA (JP): The Mitra Budaya Cultural Center will hold an art exhibition and auction to raise funds for the National Mandate Party (PAN) from Tuesday through Saturday, the organizing committee said on Tuesday.
About 30 artists will participate in the exhibition at Jl. Tanjung No. 34, Menteng, Central Jakarta. The auction will be conducted by a closed bidding system in which the minimum bid is set at 10 percent below the offered price.
Those who bargain above the offered price will have their names listed. Bidding closes at 3 p.m. on Saturday and successful bidders will be announced from 3:30 p.m.
Paintings by H. Widayat, Srihadi Soedarsono, Arifien and Dede Eri Supria will be auctioned openly on Saturday beginning at 3:30 p.m.
Among the selection are Srihadi's Dialog 1999, an oil on canvas, 83cm by 80cm, offered at an opening price of Rp 45 million and Widayat's Pasar Kecil Di Bawah Pohon Flamboyan (A Small Market Under a Poinciana Tree), a 77cm by 88 cm oil on canvas, at Rp 30 million.
A similar event will take place at Galeri Ardiyanto on Jl. Magelang in Yogyakarta from May 1 through May 3, in which 22 local painters will take part. (pan)
