Arts event at Fatahillah square

JAKARTA (JP): Communities of Betawi, Arabs, Indians and Chinese in the capital are expected to show cultural performances and traditional food during a four-day event at the Taman Fatahillah square of the Jakarta Historical Museum in downtown Kota beginning on Sunday morning.

Organizer Demitria Kusumodewi from a students group focusing on museums said that the cultural arts event also marked the reopening of the museum after a massive refurbishment.

The event, free and open to the public from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., would be inaugurated by Governor Sutiyoso on Sunday, who with his entourage would also tour the newly renovated museum. (bsr)
