Artists to exhibit in Balikpapan

YOGYAKARTA: Five artists from Yogyakarta and Surakarta are
heading to Balikpapan for a four-day painting exhibition titled
The Total Oil in Art Exhibition. The exhibitors will display
their works from April 13 to April 16 at the invitation of the
Total Oil Company. They are Godod Sutejo, Supri Cement, AB Halim,
Ari Sugiarto, and Ari Yadi.

According to Godod Sutejo, as many as 49 paintings, mostly oil
paintings, would be exhibited at the residence of Jahan of the
Total Oil Company, on Gunung Bugis 35, Total Komplek, Balikpapan.

"We feel honored by the invitation, which provides us with the
chance to show our works to foreigners. I personally feel that
this is a rare opportunity for artists, particularly since the
Bali bombings," Godod said.

He hoped that sponsors would be attracted through the
exhibition, possibly giving the artists the chance to exhibit
abroad. -- JP
