Artists remember painter Raden Saleh

BOGOR: Around 50 painters from Jakarta, Bogor, Bandung and
Banten gathered at the Bogor Botanical Gardens over the weekend
to commemorate the 115th anniversary of the death of renowned
painter Raden Saleh Syarief Bustamana.

Organizing committee chairman Ibrahim Basalmah told the
artists at Saturday's gathering to paint scenes that could be
seen from the gardens, including the Bogor Palace and the Olivia
Marimne Raffles Monument.

He said the paintings would be exhibited during the
anniversary celebration of the Botanical Gardens in May and of
the Bogor municipality in June. --JP
